Angola is presenting today its investments perspectives in this era of peace in the country, to the World Economic Fórum on Ãfrica opening today afternoon in Maputo, Mozambique.
"We hope that business people and investors react to what will be presented, namely the Private Investment Law," Angolan deputy foreign minister, George Chicoty, told press.
He said that the forum gathering heads of State and Government is seeking an interaction among political decision makers, investors and other social partners.
George Chicoty announced that Angolan prime minister, Fernando da Piedade, representing the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, will address the meeting on the country's ongoing economic reforms and the private investments legal framework.
Being held for the first time in Maputo, the forum will cast a light on the Mozambican market potential, as a result of the direct contact, the deputy minister said, adding that the meeting could future take place in Luanda or somewhere else in the sub-region, with the results this would involve.
He said he hopes Africa will in fact get developed, through similar meetings as some countries like Angola, South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia and others have settled their armed conflicts.
"Foruns like this, should they continue, can permit an opportunity for countries like Angola to obtain aid from financial institutions for various projects, aiming at their development and reconstruction," the deputy minister said.
At the summit lasting until Friday, Angolan planning minister, Ana Dias Lourenço, will give a detailed account of the Government ongoing reforms and the country's readiness for investment as a whole.
In his turn, Jorge Chicoty will participate in a panel on "Peace, its consolidation and how it can become an investment gurantee in Angola".
The World Economic Forum on Africa aims at appraising the millennium's development goals towards reducing, famine and diseases.
The meeting taking place at the "Joaquim Chissano" International Conference Centre, will discuss actions on the process of development of the continent, currently directed to the acceleration of the governing levels, appropriate infrastructures, coherent policies and an improved institutional environment favouring local and foreign investment.
Angolan delegation's top purpose at the meeting is luring more investors into the country. The summit is being organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF), an institution based in Geneva, Switzerland.With this event, the WEF is seeking to publicise and promote the African countries potentials in their various economic aspects.
The presidents of Mozambique, Joaquim Chissano, and South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, are confirmed for the meeting, besides other heads of State of the continent.
Several delegations comprising officials associated with the various areas of the economy are already in Maputo to present their respective country's investment potential.
The Summit was last held in South Africa and has consolidated its condition as a forum that gathers every year political and business leaders and the civil society.
