Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano expressed in Paris on Thursday his satisfaction with the determination of the French government to continue supporting Mozambique and Africa at large in their efforts for socio-economic development.
Adressing reporters after a meeting with members of the government and business people, shortly after his arrivasl in Paris for a two day viosdit to France, Chissano said that he was assured that France will continue and even increase its support.
He said that the participants comended Africa for the visible progress in Africa, particularly in Mozambique during the last few years, both in the economy and in political and military issues.
On Thursday, Chissano met with the chairperson of the French National Assembly and members of that organ's Foreign Relations Committee, and delivered a speech at the headquaters of the French Business Association.
In this speech, he again reiterated that Mozambique and the entire Africa are open to foreign investments, stressing that the investors will help Afriucan eradicate absol;ute poverty, that has become a permananet tragedy in the continent.
Chissano said that it is imperative that French business people invest in Mozambique and other African countries, not only because that will enhence their businesses, but also because it will help come true the African dream, which is to live a dignified life.
He said that time has come for the large corporations to intervene in African countries, even because the cycle of violence, that would prevail in some African countries, includsing thos long conflicts that seemed to never end, such is the cvase of Mozambique and Angola, is over.
