Activists and health workers fight HIV/AIDS along road EN242 (from Newsletter 12 – Ibis in Mozambique, 2003)

The rehabilitation of road EN242 will ease the traffic across northern Mozambique. It will also increase the knowledge about HIV/AIDS among road workers and in the villages along the way and hopefully prevent the virus from spreading.

Ibis invited to implement new community participation project (from Newsletter 10 – Ibis in Mozambique, September 2003)

The local government in the Niassa Province in northern Mozambique has invited Ibis to prepare and facilitate the implementation of a new project for Community Participation in Local Governance in the Majune District. The project will be financed by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) through the 'Forward Niassa' programme.

Ibis has made a proposal for a joint venture project in cooperation with MSF Luxembourg (Médecins Sans Frontières), MSF Switzerland and Douleurs Sans Frontières France in the provinces of Maputo, Gaza and Tete.

87 children and adults from the Alto Molocue-district participated in a seminar about children's rights in the last week of January, 2004. Probably the first seminar of its kind in the history of Mozambique, declared the administrator, Raul Alberto Tomane.

10th of April developed into a party in the village of Massangulo in northern Mozambique. The equipment and antenna for the new community radio arrived on a large truck and was accompanied by dancing and singing villagers on the last kilometres.

New education projects on the way in Milange and Alto Molocue (from Newsletter 11 – Ibis in Mozambique, 2003)

The local development projects, PDLAM and PDLM, in Alto Molocue and Milange in central Mozambique will be phased out by New Year 2003. That’s six months before planned, but the local partners have agreed to the change, because it opens the way for two new education projects.

Study circles are useful in development work (from SCC ROSA e-bulletin 14 October 2004)

The study circle concept has proved to be a useful tool in development initiatives in Africa. In September 2004, the Swedish Cooperative Centre Regional Office for Southern Africa (SCC ROSA) organised a regional study circle workshop in Nyanga, Zimbabwe, which provided an opportunity for SCC, its partners and Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan (SV) from Sweden to share experiences in the implementation and management of study circle activities.
